A staged reading of SAVAGE!…a chamber theatre piece by Tony Walsh, will be presented as a work in progress at the fourth CalaVida Arts Festival in Green Cove Springs, Florida on Oct. 20,2017.
SAVAGE! is a chamber theatre piece about Augusta Fells Savage, born in poverty in Green Cove Springs and rising to international fame as a leading artist of the Harlem Rennasaince. Using resources housed in the Clay County archives, Walsh is piecing together a dramatic narrative of Savage’s life.
It is to be presented at the Village Improvement Association in downtown Green Cove Springs. There is no charge for admission but reservations are suggested since space is limited.
Appearing in the staged reading playing the part of the Historian, will be Davenia McFadden. Ms. McFadden has a long list of both Hollywood and New York experience in theatre, film and television.
Walsh is currently researching and writing the chamber theatre piece and is excited about the opportunity to present, what he considers is the “bones” of the piece to an audience at the festival and both Walsh and McFadden will have an after performance talk back with members of the audience.
